Black Bass is being caught fairly well. Larger ones being caught via boat. There are still some being caught from the surf using live herring. If using a jig, make sure to use slow movements.
Effective today, NJ law now bans all smoking and vaping from all beaches. This is espected to have negative affects on surf fishing and sales at tackle shops. Many surf anglers will venture more towards the Deleware beaches or start utilizing charters or personal boats. Another bad signing by Gov. Murphy

The modern Fish act of 2017 was signed by President Trump. This act is very critical to all anglers. The primary part of this act is that it finally seperates Anglers and Commercial Anglers. In the past laws that applied to Commercial also applied to the local angler and vice versa. This made laws on Commercial fisheries loose but strict on Anglers. Finally the laws can be placed as it should on each individually. Other important aspects of the law is as follow:
