Objective
The objective of the pro shark conservation project is to educate anglers on how to properly fish for sharks. Many sharks are protected and needs to be handled properly when captured. By being able to properly identify shark species, along with proper handling, we can increase the survival rates of all sharks.
For the love of sharks
Our love and respect for sharks is the reason why we fish for them, and protect them. Sharks are important to the ecosystem and it vital we protect their role.
How you can help
There are many ways you can help in the conservation of sharks. Below is a small list of what you can do.
- Learn to quickly identify the types of shark species you may come across. Quick identification can help you know which species need to be released back into the water.
- Learn how to carefully handle and release sharks and how you can reduce stress on the animal.
- Participate in the NOAA Apex Preditor shark tagging program. This helps researchers track migrations and growth of sharks.
- Help keep our oceans clean. The ocean is the sharks home. Keeping it clean helos the shark to remain healthy.
